Click the links below for complete details about your PEBA coverage. The 2026 Insurance Benefits Summary provides a high-level view of your benefits. New employees need to complete your enrollment within 31 days of your hire date. Open Enrollment runs from October 1-31 of each year. Once the open enrollment deadline has passed, you must wait until either the next October or until you have a special eligibility situation. The monthly premium rates may vary for participating optional employers.
Navigating Your PEBA Insurance Benefits

The State Health Plan offers the Standard Plan, the Savings Plan and, if you are retired and enrolled in Medicare, the Medicare Supplemental Plan. Eligible members of the military community may enroll in the TRICARE Supplement Plan. BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina administers the State Health Plan.

You have two options for dental coverage: Dental Plus or Basic Dental. Dental Plus pays more and has higher premiums and lower out-of-pocket costs. Basic Dental pays less and has lower premiums and higher out-of-pocket costs. When you make your election, you’ll choose either Dental Plus or Basic Dental, not both. BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina processes dental claims.

Good vision is crucial for work and play. It is also a significant part of your health. An annual eye exam can help detect serious illnesses. You can have an exam once a year and get either frames/lenses or contacts. EyeMed administers the State Vision Plan.

Chances are you may not have enough life insurance coverage for yourself or your loved ones. Life events, such as getting married, having children and buying a home, may cause you to need more protection. Term life insurance coverage is available to eligible employees. MetLife underwrites the life insurance coverage. This benefit is only available to active employees.

Unexpected events can always occur, and many people think they will never become disabled. Long term disability coverage is available to eligible employees. The Standard Insurance Company administers disability coverage. This benefit is only available to active employees.

Are you leaving money on the table? MoneyPlus is a tax-favored accounts program that allows you to save money on eligible medical and dependent care costs. You fund the accounts with money deducted pretax from your paycheck. ASIFlex administers the MoneyPlus program. This benefit is only available to active employees.

The State Health Plan offers a variety of resources, most of which are available at no cost to you. Preventing potentially expensive health problems and hospital admissions may control medical costs, which saves you and the Plan money.

Cancer insurance from The Standard pays cash benefits for cancer and 29 specified diseases to help with the costs associated with treatments and expenses as they happen. The benefit can help pay for hospitalization, surgery, radiation/chemotherapy, and more.

Critical Illness coverage from The Standard provides a lump-sum cash benefit if you or a covered loved one is diagnosed with heart attack, stroke, end-stage renal failure, or another covered illness. And the benefit can be used any way you wish – for medical expenses or your regular monthly bills.

Hospital Indemnity insurance from The Standard pays a cash benefit for hospital confinements. Cash benefits are payable directly to you and can help keep you from withdrawing money from your Health Savings Account (HSA) for hospital-related expenses.

Disability insurance from The Standard pays a cash benefit to help protect an eligible individual's finances from a covered sickness or injury. Insureds who experience a total disability, partial disability, or even a disability from donating an organ can get the help they need to alleviate daily living expenses.

With Whole Life insurance from The Standard, you get guaranteed rates for the life of the policy and a guaranteed death benefit to be paid to your beneficiaries. As the policy builds cash value, you can achieve your financial goals or borrow against it should you need to. Coverage includes long-term care benefits that pay a monthly benefit of 6% of the death benefit for up to 34 months while receiving qualified long-term care services.
